KSIU Medical Students participate in the 14th Winter Camp of the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations

King Salman International University continues to empower its students by providing them with opportunities to engage in international academic and training programs.

A group of students from KSIU’s Field of Medicine participated in the 14th Winter Camp of the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations – Egypt, held in Cairo from January 28 to 31. The event was sponsored by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in collaboration with the Spanish Embassy’s International Cooperation Team. The students attended workshops on public health, sexual health, gender-based violence prevention, female genital mutilation, human rights, medical education, self-development, policy-making, and financial management.

Additionally, fourth-year medical student Rowan Walid was among 30 participants selected for the preliminary camp, supported by UNFPA Egypt. She took part in Training of Trainers sessions focused on sexual and reproductive health and sexually transmitted diseases. Having successfully completed the workshop, she is now on track to becoming a certified international trainer within the federation.

Meanwhile, third-year student Laila Ghazal represented KSIU at the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Preparatory Meeting in Oman from February 2 to 6. She was one of 30 students selected for the workshop “From Advocacy to Policy,” which aims to equip students with the skills needed to influence public policy and drive societal change.

As part of its commitment to student development, KSIU is in the process of establishing a Medical Students’ Association to join the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations – Egypt. The federation represents over 1.5 million medical students across 133 countries and includes members from more than 31 Egyptian universities.

This initiative reflects KSIU’s dedication to supporting students in academic and extracurricular activities, fostering leadership, and empowering future healthcare professionals to contribute to education, awareness, and community service.
