KSIU Students Take Part in Regional Workshop on Youth Engagement in Combating Desertification in Africa

As part of King Salman International University’s commitment to promoting student participation in impactful scientific and environmental initiatives, four students from the Faculties of Basic Sciences and Desert Agriculture, along with a faculty assistant from the Faculty of Science, took part in the regional workshop “Towards Activating the Role of Youth in Combating Desertification in Africa.”

The workshop was held at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina on Saturday, May 10, 2025, and will continue on Thursday, May 15, at the Desert Research Station in Ras Sudr, South Sinai.

The event was jointly organized by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Desert Research Center, under the patronage of H.E. the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, and supervised by Prof. Hossam Shawky – Head of the Desert Research Center and Egypt’s National Focal Point for the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).

KSIU students actively participated in training sessions focused on desertification, climate change, and biodiversity, using remote sensing technologies and environmental planning tools.

We’re proud of our students’ meaningful contributions and their role in advancing sustainable development and environmental awareness.
