KSIU Concludes the Kick-Off Meeting of the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education Project “INNAQE”

King Salman International University has concluded the activities of the kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education project, launched by the Field of Science under the title:
“Integrating Nature-Based Innovative Solutions for More Resilient Aquatic Ecosystems – INNAQE.”
The meeting was held at the Faculty of Science, Ras Sudr Campus, South Sinai Governorate, from 6 to 11 December 2025.

The event witnessed distinguished participation from international partners, academics, and representatives of relevant institutions. The sessions focused on presenting the project’s objectives and main pillars, discussing mechanisms for integrating nature-based innovative solutions to enhance the resilience of aquatic ecosystems, and emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation among higher education institutions.

The INNAQE Project Consortium brings together a group of prominent international universities, including Alexandria University (Project Coordinator), King Salman International University (Egypt), University of South Africa (UNISA), University of Fort Hare (UFH), South Africa, Euro-Mediterranean University of Slovenia, Ege University, Greece, and University of Palermo (UNIPA), Italy, reflecting the project’s strong international dimension and its significance in addressing sustainability challenges.

As part of the program, graduation projects related to environmental issues were presented by students of the Biotechnology Program at the Faculty of Science, in addition to innovative presentations and ideas delivered by students from Saint Joseph International School in Sharm El-Sheikh and Manaret Heliopolis International Schools in Cairo. These contributions highlighted students’ awareness of the importance of protecting aquatic ecosystems and achieving environmental sustainability.

The INNAQE project aims to enhance the capacities of faculty members, upgrade the laboratories of the Faculty of Science, and provide training opportunities for students at universities within the European Union. The project contributes to improving the quality of education and scientific research and strengthening international cooperation in the fields of sustainability and innovation, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and modern higher education visions.
