KSIU Field of Arts & Design Participates in Organizing International Conference on Art and Civilizations in Nuweiba

In a landmark achievement reflecting King Salman International University’s growing cultural and academic stature, the Field of Arts & Design participated in organizing the International Conference “Art and Civilizations: Horizons and the Future,” held in Nuweiba, South Sinai, from January 27–31, 2026.

The conference was organized in strategic partnership with leading cultural and scientific institutions, including: the Arab Association for Civilization and Islamic Arts, the Union of Scientific Research Associations, Meshwar Development Foundation, and the International Foundation for Culture and Arts, under the generous patronage of the League of Islamic Universities, highlighting the event’s scientific and professional significance.

Held in Nuweiba — a city of historical significance as a meeting point for different cultures and civilizations — the conference aimed to foster dialogue and cross-cultural communication. Researchers from 14 countries presented 154 scientific papers over five consecutive days, demonstrating that art is not merely an aesthetic practice but a profound human language capable of expression and enhancing mutual understanding. History teaches us that civilizations flourish through openness, interaction, and learning from one another. Art has always been a witness to this interaction, through architecture, decoration, calligraphy, design, and other forms of visual expression. While each culture remains rich on its own, it becomes deeper and stronger when it interacts with others, without losing its identity.

The conference featured 15 scientific sessions, showcasing 154 papers and engaging a distinguished group of 56 academic experts in an international scholarly event, which added a global dimension to the recommendations and outcomes. The event facilitated the exchange of expertise among artistic schools, technical methods, and educational and cultural practices, highlighting the importance of dialogue and the role of art in communication and building the future of societies.

The significance of this conference goes beyond the sessions and papers; it served as a genuine meeting space, bringing together artists, designers, and researchers from multiple countries to exchange knowledge and open avenues for collaboration and outstanding artistic production. This underscores the role of KSIU’s Field of Arts & Design in supporting this path. Universities are not merely places for education but platforms for raising awareness, encouraging critical thinking, and nurturing creativity.
