King Salman International University Achieves Global Recognition in Sustainable Architecture

In a new academic milestone reflecting its leadership in sustainable architecture, a student project from the School of Architecture at King Salman International University has been selected among international projects aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The project, developed by fifth-year Architecture student Ziad Salah Ahmed under the supervision of faculty members, presents a contemporary vision for redesigning the Egyptian residential building model in the post-pandemic era. The proposal integrates environmental, social, economic, and agricultural dimensions to enhance quality of life, promote public health, improve urban resilience, and reduce energy and resource consumption.

The design carefully considers the nature of Egyptian communities and diverse housing patterns, offering a flexible model that can be adapted to different local contexts across governorates.

The project has been officially selected for publication in the UIA SDGs Guidebook, issued by the International Union of Architects. It will also be showcased at the UIA World Congress in Barcelona this June, attended by leading architects and international institutions.

This achievement reflects King Salman International University’s continued commitment to fostering innovation, supporting applied research, and strengthening its presence in global platforms addressing sustainability and urban development.
