Desert Agriculture Students’ Field Trip Enhances Applied Learning Experience
KSIU, represented by the Faculty of Desert Agriculture, organized a field trip for its students to Mazhar Waly Garden and the Flower Exhibition at the Agricultural Museum, as part of its commitment to enhancing practical learning and linking academic study with real-world applications.
The visit began with a scientific lecture delivered by garden consultant Theresa Labib, who introduced students to the historical background and botanical composition of the garden, highlighting the diversity of plant species, the importance of native Egyptian plants, and their applications in desert agriculture.
Students then participated in guided tours across the garden, exploring its various plant sections and greenhouses, including orchids, indoor plants, ferns, and tropical species, as well as bamboo areas and fruit trees. The tour provided valuable insights into the practical applications of plants, particularly in desert environments.
The trip continued with a visit to the Agricultural Museum, where students explored the evolution of agriculture through different historical periods and learned about both traditional and modern agricultural tools and techniques.
