Cross Sectoral Dialogue About SDGs
King Salman International University fosters cross-sectoral dialogue about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by organizing forums, workshops, and conferences that bring together stakeholders from various sectors. These events facilitate the exchange of ideas and best practices, encouraging collaboration between academia, industry, government, and civil society. Through these dialogues, the university helps to create a shared understanding and commitment to achieving the SDGs.
Workshops: KSIU has hosted seminars like “The Power of Sustainable Development Goals,” which serve as platforms for knowledge exchange and strategic planning among participants from diverse sectors. These events are crucial for raising awareness and generating innovative ideas to tackle sustainability issues
KSIU has hosted Ms. Sherine El Hawary, President of the Arab Conference for Training and Development for Sustainability, and Member of the National Council for Women at South Sinai, to present a seminar about “The Power of Sustainable Development Goals”. The event took place at Sharm EL-Sheikh campus, Lecture hall D106 on 6th March 2021.
KSIU has co-organized (along with diverse academic and international universities) the International Conference in Patent Contact Office in the Fields of Agriculture and Food Security, held on 29th of Oct 2024, organize3d by the National Research Center. The conference brought to the fore cross sectorial dialogue on the necessity of partnership for SDGs goals and innovative solution implementation of green economy and environmental sustainability. The conference addressed the following topics:
- The role of innovation and patent in scientific research
- Green innovation and promoting environmental sustainability and food security
- Smart application in agriculture for sustainable and food security
- Young innovators and developing creative skills.
- Types of intellectual property and how to write a patent
Cooperation Protocols:
KSIU signed a cooperation protocol with the Egyptian Forum for Sustainable Development. The protocol was signed between the two parties on the fifth of May 2021. The protocol stipulates the formation of teams for participatory work between the forum’s experts and the university on a permanent and continuous basis, working to discuss all development visions for the Governorate of South Sinai.
Initiatives Supporting SDG Implementation
KSIU is involved in several initiatives that directly support the achievement of SDGs:
Educational Programs Supporting SDGs
KSIU offers a variety of academic programs that align with the principles of sustainable development. The end of the diverse educational programs is to create the Millennials citizen with a skill-set capable of spreading awareness of SDGs and capacitated to implement and develop SDGs policies as befitting Egypt 2030 Vision for Sustainability. The curriculum is designed to equip students with the necessary skills to contribute positively to society. Programs include:
Environmental Sciences and Sustainable Development:
The program is designed to integrate knowledge from environmental sciences with sustainable development practices and equip students with the necessary skills and understanding to address contemporary environmental challenges, while promoting sustainable practices. A key objective is to link academic learning with community needs, ensuring that graduates can actively contribute to local and global sustainability efforts.
Applied Social Sciences: Covers sociology, psychology, and social planning, emphasizing community development
The university integrates sustainability concepts into its curriculum, promoting awareness and understanding of global citizenship among students KSIU contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with special emphasis on four key areas: research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching. This is served through various offered programs by KSIU which are 66 and cover all sectors.
