Education for SDGs in the Wider Community 

Beyond the campus, King Salman International University extends its commitment to the SDGs through community education initiatives. The university organizes workshops, seminars, and public lectures that raise awareness about sustainability issues and promote community engagement. These efforts help to build a broader understanding of the SDGs and encourage collective action towards achieving them, fostering a culture of sustainability within the wider community.  KSIU organizes annual educational events and courses that enable our educators, students, communities, and members of the public to engage in accordance with their needs for more education and study. During 2023/2024, several activities were held by the university:

  • A visit to many schools in Ras Sudr city (Ras Sudr Al-Azhar Secondary School, Sadat Secondary and Preparatory, Saad Zaghloul Primary) to the university branch.

Main Objective of the Visits: Clarify the role of the university in community service and the university’s educational and environmental role for the people of Sinai

Contribution of the university in maintenance of Nature 

KSIU Students have some activities to clean the environment in South Sinai. 

Students of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality organized a day to clean Nabq Beach: The main plan was to get three types of bags to collect waste and separate it into plastic, metal, and paper. The primary objective of this project was to raise awareness for further beach clean-ups and the preservation of our green world.

  1. Early breast tumors  

  2. Diabetes. 

  3. College students participated in the awareness campaign For patients with weak heart muscle  

  4. “Your habits are changing your life, checking you now means safety” 

 

The University carries out the following practices to promote biodiversity and combat desertification: 

  1. Support the biodiversity of organisms located in the university’s designated area animals and birds across the campus and surrounding area. Supporting biodiversity These areas are not only important for the plants, birds and animals that inhabit them but also provide invaluable amenities, aesthetic and social, for faculty, staff, students and the wider community that accesses our campus.

  2. Implement sustainable landscaping practices, such as planting native species and reducing water use through the use of drought-resistant plants.

  3. Educate students and faculty about the importance of biodiversity and the seriousness of desertification, and promote actions that can help mitigate these issues, such as waste reduction and recycling.

  4. Implement sustainable farming practices, such as organic farming and composting, to support biodiversity and combat desertification.

  5. Encourage research and studies related to biodiversity and desertification within the campus community, and strengthen cooperation with universities and other research institutions.

Children’s university 

It’s a creative initiative that encourages kids and teens to take charge of their own education by providing them with engaging, after-school learning experiences that improve their chances of academic success. In 2024, KSIU encouraged 100 school students from different schools in Ras Sudr and Sharm ElSheikh. Students are aged 9-11 years old. 

 Contribution of faculty of veterinary medicine in injured camel treatment.
To contribute to wild life maintenance, faculty of veterinary medicine is treating injured wild animals.
