Biography

Dr. Ashour earned his Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), Omaha, Nebraska, USA, in 2006 and is currently an Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Pharmacy, King Salman International University (KSIU), with seventeen years of teaching experience.

Before joining KSIU, Dr. Ashour worked as an Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the Basic Medical Sciences Department, Kulliyyah (College) of Medicine, International Islamic University Malaysia (2017-2021). He also served as an Associate Professor (2013-2017) and Assistant Professor (2007-2013) at the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, College of Pharmacy, King Saud University, Saudi Arabia. Additionally, he was a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Neuroscience, Pharmacology, and Child’s Health (NEUROFARBA), University of Florence, Italy (2014), and at the Department of Oncology and Internal Medicine, Wayne State University, USA (2012-2013) 

Dr. Ashour current research interests focus on developing a new class of chemosensitizing and apoptosis-promoting anticancer agents for treating solid malignancies such as medulloblastoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, colorectal adenocarcinoma, and breast cancer. His research also investigates novel small-molecule compounds that inhibit cancer cell growth and metastasis, in collaboration with Wayne State University, USA
