King Salman International University to achieve the sixteenth goal of sustainable development: Partnerships to achieve goals
Reviving the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development
A successful sustainable development plan requires partnerships between governments, the private sector and civil society. These comprehensive partnerships based on principles and values, a shared vision, and common goals that put people and planet at the centre are needed at the global, regional, national and local levels.
Urgent action is needed to mobilize, redirect and unleash the transformative power of trillions of dollars in private resources to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Long-term investments, including foreign direct investment, are needed in vital sectors, particularly in developing countries. They include sustainable energy, infrastructure and transportation, as well as information and communications technologies. The public sector will need to set a clear direction. The review and monitoring frameworks, regulations and incentive structures that enable these investments must be redesigned to attract investment and promote sustainable development. National oversight mechanisms such as supreme audit institutions and oversight functions of legislative bodies should be strengthened.
The Sustainable Development Goals can only be achieved with a strong commitment to partnership and cooperation at the local, regional and international levels. The world today is more interconnected than ever before. Improving access to technology and knowledge is an important means of exchanging ideas and fostering innovation. Therefore, Benha University has established partnerships at the local, regional and international levels, whether governmental or non-governmental institutions, to achieve all goals and enhance the role of sustainability and development.
The establishment of new private universities with the latest models and specifications, in addition to being distributed throughout the regions of the Republic, requires these universities to integrate with various institutions at the level of the Republic to ensure the achievement of strategic objectives.
