Dr. Ibrahim Abouelsaad is currently an Assistant Professor of plant production at the Faculty of Desert Agriculture, King Salman International University. Dr. Abouelsaad received a Bachelor of Science (agricultural production; with honors) and Master of Science degrees (olericulture) from Alexandria University (Damanhour branch), Egypt. Subsequently, he won a competitive national scholarship to do his PhD studies at the University of Manitoba, Canada. His research focuses on the enhancement of yield, quality traits and environmental stress tolerance (e.g. salinity and drought) for vegetable crops, using modern molecular biology, biochemical and biotechnological tools (plant tissue culture). He also presented his research at prestigious international conferences. In addition, his experience extended to the production of vegetable crops under different systems (e.g. open field, hydroponics and greenhouse). Dr. Abouelsaad is actively involved in teaching undergraduate students, supervising graduate students and training lab assistants.
