Family Psychological & Social Counseling Program

Program Details 

Program Description

This program aims to offer knowledge and applications on the various family counseling methods covering the life cycle of the family (prior to marriage, childbearing, and orientation). The program also covers challenges different family members
experience in dealing with government institutions (such as the judicial system in cases of family conflict). It relies on an
interdisciplinary approach that evokes sociology, psychology and social work to equip graduates with well-rounded knowledge and skills in these fields.

Learning Outcomes

• Understands the interactions between an individual’s characteristics and the social context in which they live.
• Understands the concept of experimentation and the components of the experiment and its different variables.
• Recognizes characteristics of normal and abnormal behaviors.
• Knows ethical issues related to psychology and family counseling.
  Identifies the most important methods for the different levels of psychological and social family counseling.
• Recognizes the role played by social and ecological factors in explaining different behaviors.

Graduate Attributes

Graduates able to design research tools and effectively apply his/her skills to psychological and social family counseling. This includes conducting interviews, studying the case and reporting.
The graduate is able to apply individual psychological tests and psychological principles to individual, social and institutional problems. Ultimately, the graduate can carry out field research, analyze and report on results scientifically and capably apply these results by participating in planning, managing, and reforming social and developmental projects.
